A New Era of Growth for Prodigy Disc in European Disc Golf

Prodigy Disc has been part of the European disc golf landscape since its earliest days. Founded in the United States in 2013, the brand expanded into Europe in 2014 through the efforts of Seppo Paju and his siblings, helping establish Prodigy as a trusted and recognizable name across the continent. After more than a decade of building the business and supporting the growth of the sport, the Paju family has made the strategic decision to transition Prodigy Disc’s European operations to a partner positioned to take the brand into its next phase of expansion. Seppo Paju will remain active within the disc golf industry in other roles, continuing his long-standing contribution to the sport.

Powergrip, one of Europe’s most established and versatile disc golf companies, has been selected as the successor for Prodigy Disc’s European import, representation, and course sales operations. These operations have been transferred to Powergrip through a business acquisition, with the purchase price structured over time and tied to future revenue performance. Through this acquisition, Powergrip gains exclusive rights to represent and develop the Prodigy Disc brand in Europe. The partnership combines Prodigy Disc’s product innovation and global brand with Powergrip’s deep market knowledge, retail strength, and operational scale—creating a strong platform for long-term growth across Europe.

“We are very pleased to see the business move into the hands of Powergrip, a company with a strong presence in the European disc golf market and a clear vision for how the Prodigy brand and course sales can continue to grow and evolve,” says Ilkka Paju, Chairman of the Board.

Building on a Strong Foundation

“We have great respect for the work Prodigy Disc Europe has done over more than ten years to support the growth of disc golf,” says Erno Väyrynen, CEO of Powergrip. “We are grateful for the trust placed in us to carry the Prodigy brand forward in Europe. This acquisition allows us to serve players, clubs, and partners in an even more comprehensive way.”

All customer- and partner-facing operations will continue without disruption. Prodigy Store’s direct-to-consumer business will be integrated into Powergrip’s online store and its five retail locations, ensuring broad availability and a seamless experience for European customers. With this transition, Prodigy Disc enters a new chapter in Europe—one focused on scale, accessibility, and continued growth within a rapidly expanding disc golf community.
